50 Years of Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel, 50 Years of Passion

Since its opening in 1975, the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel has continuously expanded, setting a benchmark for other hotels. Many successful careers have started here, and it has consistently impressed guests with its exceptional service and quality. The hotel is not just an ordinary airport hotel; it is a hotel at an airport. With its direct connection to the airport, regional train station, S-Bahn, bus station, and the Frankfurt Cross, it remains the premier choice for travelers. Our hotel is a favored meeting point for personalities from politics, business, show business, and sports, whether for conferences, events, or private stays.

In February 1988, the second extension followed, which today houses the Congress Center. The Congress Center has become a popular venue for international conferences and events. A major advantage was and still is that all participants can meet, celebrate, dine, and stay under one roof.

Press Clippings from February 1975

In February 1975, the opening of the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel made headlines, highlighting its significant impact. Articles proclaimed it as "The largest airport hotel on the continent is located in Frankfurt." The innovative design included double-glazed windows, leading to the headline "Shielded from jet noise," and described how airport activities appeared like a silent film. Another article celebrated the hotel's scale with "A hotel giant emerged in Frankfurt." Additionally, the unique construction above the airport's underground parking garage was noted with "Hotel opened above 6000 cars."

Sweet Celebration

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel, we have chosen a special "birthday cake": the Frankfurter Kranz. Why? The Frankfurter Kranz, an imperial cake, was first mentioned around 1735. Its ring shape and crunchy coating are reminiscent of the crown of the German emperors, whose coronation took place in Frankfurt am Main. The cherries are said to symbolize rubies. We are reinventing the Frankfurter Kranz and will introduce various versions throughout the year, such as the Frankfurter Kranz in a jar, which can be ordered at The Eatery.
